On the occasion of the completion of the European training program FlyVETUp!, in which the Hellenic Post Office participated together with other European partners from Croatia, Germany, Cyprus and Greece, the presentation of the program was held by the Training Department at the Employees Cultural Center, in Athens October 19th .
The program, carried out in the framework of Erasmus+, gained the interest of 90 colleagues from all over the country, with 52 of them training in the handling of drones and receiving the relevant certification, to date.
During the event, the officers of the Training Department described the axes of the successful program, the advantages and challenges of using drones in the postal sector, while they spoke to the great interest of the participating colleagues who successfully completed the training.
In the first place, Mr Epaminondas Vasiliou, Head of Training Department welcomed the certified postal employees and the members of administration team as well as the employee representatives.
On behalf of Administration Team, the event was attended by Mr. Savvas Dandolos, General Manager of Production Operations who spoke about the digital transformation of the company, linking it to the innovative FlyVETUp! training program. He described the steps that have already been taken in this direction as well as the next innovations, which are expected within 2023, placing particular emphasis on the extensive use of digital tools in the post office, stressing that “the digital transformation of ELTA will correct weaknesses, improve processes and services while providing innovative solutions to intractable problems”. Regarding drones, he said that their use by ELTA is an “image from the future, which is not far off”.
On behalf of the Training Department, Head of Planning &Evaluation of Training Programs & Partnership, Maria Strataki presented the “Aims and Objectives of the FlyVETUp! Project” and described the advantages and challenges of the use of drones in the postal sector, while she stood on the great interest of the participating colleagues, who successfully completed the training.
furthermore, two more partners mentioned their cooperation with ELTA, in the context of the FlyVETUp! project. In particular, Mrs Konstantina Tsakalou project manager of AMKI Intrernational, presented the methodology followed in the design of the curriculum, while Mrs Afroditi Sakellaropoulou the Cypriot company Dronint (Drone Intelligence), specializing in the use of unmanned aircraft, emphasized the need for a strong legislative framework for the operation of drones in the postal sector. A discussion followed that focused on the multiple benefits of using drones for postal purposes while commenting on possible malfunctions as well as the regulatory framework governing this particular application.
Finally, Mary Bakogiannis (Corporate Member of Training Direction), summarized and commented the previous presentations and the event was concluded.
