GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE
On line training course for „Drone controller is prepared in compliance with the provisions of the Project
FlyVETUp! – Innovative Training Curricula for Drone Controllers co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme
of the European Union. The project’s objective is the realization of a training material for using Drones or
Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) on parcel delivery. By taking part in this project, the employees of the
postal operators (postmen and not only) will learn how to operate drones.
Over the past few years, commercial applications of the drone technology and its growing impact can no
longer be ignored. Drones are piloted by remote control or on-board computers through a combination
of computer vision, artificial intelligence and object avoidance technology. While some jobs may be
made obsolete by drone technology, more jobs will be created to man the drones and ensure an efficient
system in the delivery of services for various industries. Postal operators also realize the benefits of the
drone deliveries in their everyday business and various possibilities of using a drone in the delivery of
letters and parcels.
The objective of the training programme is to enable the participants to achieve maximum level of
assimilation of concepts, terminology and model regulatory framework for UAS operations and
application by going through modules:
1. Module 1 – Core Unmanned Aerial System (UAS)
2. Module 2 – Intro to the Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM)
After completion of the Units within two Modules, participant will issue Certificate of the completion of
the Online training.

Module I Consists of 7 Units. Within this Module, the learners will get to know about technological achievements in the field of parcel delivery by drone, to know how to categorize the different types of UAS, recognize the categories and sub-categories of UAS operations, be able to define basic manoeuvring, be able to classify drone controls, be able to explain basic navigation in drone operation, be able to relate the differences between NOTAM and AIP services, to know the basics of meteorology in aviation and to understand weather conditions and their impact on flying, to know about the general aspects of Human Limitations and the way they are related to various aspects of drone operations.
Module II Consists of 5 Units. Upon completion of this Module, the learners will be able to understand and determine categories of operations and to classify operating principles, get to know to the general concept of UAS and characteristics of these systems, be informed about the meaning of controlled and uncontrolled airspace and some basic procedures in terms of air traffic control and management of it, will be able to understand the importance of safety to the UAS operations, to understand the importance of GDPR as part of aviation and to identify regulations regarding Data Protection.
